HAPPY ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY, REENI!

NEWS AND REVIEWS ONE YEAR COLLAGE.png

REENI'S TURN challenges the diet industry's impact on our young children in the context of a universal middle grade story of an introverted and shy girl as she urgently searches for courage, body acceptance, and her own strong voice.

This debut year challenged the importance of finding joy during difficult times in our country—suffering and injustices that shadow days and demand attention and work beyond self.

The pre-launch planning, a friend- and colleague-filled launch during which Crowdcast disappeared us all, but resilience saved the day, author visits and writing presentations, figuring out how to create a one-sheet, soaking in the smarts, perceptiveness, hard work, and patience on the part of the creators of the REENI'S TURN Trailer, Curriculum Guide developer, and website designer.

I reached out in ways that are not comfortable—and sometimes backed away from reaching out. I was invited by some to speak about REENI'S TURN and my journey; I was dismissed by a few who sniffed at my tiny traditional publisher.

And of course the best part of the year was the dream-come-true of visiting classrooms, where excited, interested, literate, and eager students greeted me, and hard-working, committed teachers facilitated smooth and beautifully-run virtual visits. Thank you all! This is where the joy of being a writer lives!
